Commonly asked questions
Our methodical approach is focused on revealing the essence of each challenge before we start solving it. Here is what people ask us most often.
Do we own the completed website?
You always have full ownership of your website. Although we would hate to see it happen, you are free to move your website to a third-party company at any time. Because your website is built on WordPress, it can be transferred to just about any web host. Domains, hosting accounts and licences are registered in your name, not ours.
Do I need to have all my content prepared before contacting you?
No. We can get started using placeholder content while you work towards completing yours. We will even provide a content outline to follow to make things easier, which gives you guidance on the type of text and images that will perform best on your website.
Are your designs pre-made templates?
We design the layout, structure and styling around your business rather than dropping your logo into a demo site. Where a project genuinely benefits from an established framework or a commercial theme — usually because it saves you money — we will say so up front, tell you what it costs to licence, and make sure the licence is in your name.
Do your website designs work on mobile devices?
Yes, and we consider this one of the most important parts of the job. Many of our clients see the majority of their traffic from mobile phones, so we design at phone width first and test on real devices. We put a high emphasis on making sure the experience on a phone is second to none.
Can you help me get my website to show up on Google?
Yes. It is almost always possible to get a website showing for branded searches, meaning somebody typing in your business name. Competing on broad industry keywords is much harder if your market is oversaturated, and we will give you an honest view of what is realistic for your sector before you spend anything.
How long does a website take?
A straightforward brochure site is usually two to three weeks from the point we have your content. A larger business site is typically four to six weeks, and a WooCommerce store six to eight. The single biggest cause of delay is waiting for content, which is why we give you an outline at the start.
What does it cost?
Care plans start at £49 a month and project work starts around £950. Every project is quoted in writing with a fixed total after a short scoping call, so you never receive an invoice for something you have not already agreed. Full detail is on the pricing page.
Do you take payments online?
Yes. Card payments are processed securely by Stripe, and we also accept UK bank transfer for project invoices. We never see or store your full card details. Our refund and cancellation terms are published in full.
What happens if my site breaks at the weekend?
Clients on a care plan get a response within the window set out in their plan. For anything genuinely urgent — the site is down, or a shop cannot take orders — contact us by phone rather than email and we will pick it up as quickly as we can.
Is my data handled properly under UK GDPR?
Yes. We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry and run your account, we do not sell data to anyone, and we set out exactly what we hold and for how long in our privacy policy. If we process data on your behalf as part of a project, we will put a written data processing agreement in place.
